ASANA is a visionary organization dedicated to creating unique retreat experiences, currently developing the Ozora Pikorua 'wholebeing' retreat in the Hungarian countryside. The retreat's name draws inspiration from the nearby village of Ozora, known for its annual summer 'psychedelic tribal gathering' started in 1999, and the Maori symbol Pikorua, which represents loyalty, friendship, and love. For ASANA, the Pikorua also symbolizes remembrance for close friends lost. Nestled in the quiet, rural location of Igar Vampuszta, just 10 minutes from the Ozora Festival site, the Ozora Pikorua retreat offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The retreat is designed to provide a peaceful atmosphere where guests can rest, reset, and re-energize. Currently, the retreat features two unique Pikorua Pods, each accommodating two people with ample space for clothes and bags. Guests have access to two fully equipped dedicated bathrooms and a utility room with laundry facilities. A large multi-function space is available for yoga practice, relaxation, dining, and social events. Off-road parking for four vehicles and verge parking for an additional four cars are provided, along with a fresh water tap near the parking area. Although electric vehicle charging facilities are not currently available, ASANA is committed to further developing the site. Plans are underway to introduce a second guest building with two fully equipped twin guest rooms and bathrooms by Ozora 2025. Additionally, a self-contained family suite with a private bathroom and balcony is being developed, perfect for families and those seeking extra privacy. ASANA's Ozora Pikorua retreat embodies the spirit of community, friendship, and personal growth, offering a unique opportunity for guests to reconnect with nature and themselves. I visited the Ozora Pikorua 'wholebeing' retreat in the Hungarian countryside with high hopes, given its promise of a serene escape and holistic retreat experience. Unfortunately, the reality fell short of my expectations. The location, while peaceful, lacked the tranquility I had anticipated due to the proximity to the Ozora Festival site, which, although not in session during my visit, still had remnants of past gatherings that detracted from the natural beauty. The Pikorua Pods, though unique, were somewhat cramped for two people, and the shared bathroom facilities, while clean, were not as private as I would have liked. The multi-function space was versatile but lacked a clear definition, making it hard to fully utilize for either yoga, relaxation, or dining without feeling like I was intruding on other guests' spaces. The absence of electric vehicle charging facilities was also a significant drawback for me, considering the retreat's emphasis on sustainability and natural harmony. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect was the sense of disconnection from the community and personal growth that ASANA's vision promises. With plans for expansion, including additional guest rooms and a self-contained family suite, there's potential for the Ozora Pikorua retreat to better fulfill its mission. However, as it stands, it feels more like a work in progress than a fully realized holistic retreat. I hope that in the future, ASANA will focus on enhancing the privacy and sustainability of the retreat, as well as fostering a stronger sense of community among its guests, to truly embody the spirit of the Pikorua symbol.
