June 06, 2025Disappointing Experience with ArtWorking
I was really looking forward to working with ArtWorking, given their mission to support artists and entrepreneurs with disabilities. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Despite their commitment to respecting participants' privacy, I felt that my personal boundaries were not respected during the application process. The forms were lengthy and invasive, asking for sensitive information that I didn't feel comfortable sharing. When I tried to discuss my concerns with the team, I was met with a lack of understanding and empathy. It seemed like they were more focused on pushing me through the program than actually addressing my needs. The resources they provided were also not as tailored to my specific needs as I had hoped. The workshops were too general and didn't offer the level of support that I required. I ended up feeling like just another statistic in their program, rather than a valued participant. For an organization that claims to be dedicated to empowerment and support, I was surprised by the lack of follow-through. Perhaps they need to re-evaluate their approach and prioritize the needs of their participants over their own mission statement.
