About This Business
Angela Amias is a licensed psychotherapist and an internationally recognized expert on trauma and relationships. As the Director of Clinical Education for the Institute for Trauma Informed Relationships, she provides certification in trauma-informed relationships for therapists, coaches, and other helping professionals. In 2020, she co-founded Alchemy of Love with Dr. Daniel Boscaljon, offering resources, support, and education on relationships and the impact of trauma. Their articles, podcast, classes, and Five Relationship Archetypes have gained a worldwide audience of individuals and couples. Angela is also the author of 'Ask Angela: Relationship Advice for Love After Trauma.' Her work focuses on providing relationship advice, training, and certification for therapists and coaches, as well as writing, art, and practices for deep self-discovery. Angela's approach emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed care, recognizing that painful childhood experiences can exert a powerful influence on adult intimate relationships. She developed the Trauma Informed Relationship Counseling for Individuals and Couples model to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research on relational trauma and traditional models for relationship therapy. This approach goes beyond addressing Big T Traumas, such as those resulting in PTSD or C-PTSD, to understanding the impact of small t traumas from childhood on adult relationships. By acknowledging and addressing these unhealed relationship wounds, Angela aims to help individuals and couples foster growth, deepen connections, and build better relationships. Her expertise and resources have made her a trusted voice in the field of trauma-informed relationships, and her work continues to support and educate helping professionals, individuals, and couples worldwide.

June 06, 2025Underwhelming Experience with Trauma-Informed Relationship Counseling
I was really looking forward to working with Angela Amias and the Alchemy of Love team, given their impressive credentials and promise of trauma-informed relationship counseling. Unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. The certification program for therapists, which I enrolled in, felt more like a generic relationship coaching course with some trauma-related buzzwords thrown in. The resources provided, including the Five Relationship Archetypes, seemed overly simplistic and didn't offer the depth of insight I was hoping for. I also found the emphasis on recognizing small 't' traumas from childhood to be somewhat helpful, but the execution fell short. Angela's approach, as outlined in her book 'Ask Angela,' felt more like pop psychology than a rigorously researched, evidence-based methodology. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but for the cost and the prestige associated with Angela's work, I anticipated a more transformative experience. Instead, I felt like I was just going through the motions of another self-help program without any meaningful support or genuine breakthroughs. If you're considering Alchemy of Love or Angela's certification program, I'd recommend doing your research and reading reviews from multiple sources before committing. My experience was disappointing, and I hope that by sharing it, others might approach with more realistic expectations.
