Kevin's remarkable contributions to the community were recognised with numerous awards, including an OBE, a Beacon Award for community work, and the Freedom of the London Borough of Newham. Today, Ambition Aspire Achieve continues to build on Kevin's legacy, providing young people with the ambition, confidence, and skills to achieve their goals and create a brighter future. The organisation believes that a young person's background should not determine their future and works tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of young people in Newham. June 09, 2025Disappointing Experience with Lack of Follow-Through
I was really looking forward to volunteering with Ambition Aspire Achieve, given their mission to support disadvantaged young people in Newham. However, my experience was disappointing, to say the least. The organisation's main hub in Stratford seemed disorganised, and the staff appeared overwhelmed. I had signed up to help with their after-school program, but when I arrived, they seemed unsure of how to utilise my skills. The activities they had planned for the kids were not engaging, and it felt like they were just going through the motions. I had expected a more structured and supportive environment, especially considering their focus on inclusivity. The kids deserved better. What bothered me the most was the lack of follow-through on their promises. They had mentioned providing training for volunteers, but that never materialised. It felt like they were more interested in securing donations than actually making a meaningful difference in the lives of these young people. I understand that they have a noble mission, and I appreciate the work they aim to do, but the execution falls short. Until they can demonstrate a more committed and organised approach, I would hesitate to recommend Ambition Aspire Achieve to others. Perhaps with more dedicated leadership and a clearer plan, they can truly make the impact they aspire to.
