June 06, 2025Underwhelming Experience in the Red Centre
I participated in the Alice Springs Running Festival back in 2019, and I must say, it was a letdown. The course was poorly marked, and I got lost not once, not twice, but thrice during the half-marathon. The water stations were few and far between, and the volunteers seemed unprepared for the number of participants. The scenery, of course, was breathtaking, but that's not something the organizers can take credit for. What really got my goat was the lack of amenities at the finish line. No showers, no proper food, and a mediocre medal that looked like it was designed by a primary school student. For an event with such a rich history, I expected a lot more. Maybe they'll get their act together for the 2025 edition, but I won't be holding my breath. Unless you're a die-hard fan of running in the desert, I'd say give this one a miss.
