I attended the Alliance Lutheran Church of North Royalton for several months, hoping to find a sense of community and deepen my faith. Unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. The worship services, while musically rich, felt overly formal and lacking in personal connection. I struggled to relate to the sermons, which seemed to prioritize doctrine over real-life applications. The ministries and programs, such as the youth ministry and women's ministry, appeared well-structured but felt exclusive, making it difficult for newcomers like myself to integrate. I attempted to participate in the 82nd Street theater program but found the auditions intimidating and the productions overly focused on showcasing talent rather than fostering a sense of community. Despite the church's efforts to provide a member directory and downloads, I found it challenging to connect with other members outside of the formal services. The leadership team, while well-intentioned, seemed distant and more focused on maintaining tradition than on creating an inclusive environment. As someone seeking a vibrant and supportive community, I was disappointed to find ALCC falling short of its promise. Perhaps with more emphasis on creating spaces for genuine connection and spiritual growth, ALCC can become the welcoming community it strives to be.
