June 06, 2025Frustrating Experience with iBudget Waiver Application
I'm extremely disappointed with the service I received from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). As a caregiver for my sister who has a developmental disability, I was trying to navigate the iBudget Waiver application process. Despite their claims of having a new, streamlined online application system, I found it to be clunky and difficult to use. The instructions were unclear, and the support staff seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful when I called for assistance. It took me weeks to get someone to return my calls, and even then, they didn't seem to understand our situation or provide any meaningful guidance. I was expecting a more personalized and supportive experience, especially given APD's mission to provide individualized support and services. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of that promise. The lack of clear communication and the inefficient application process have caused significant delays in my sister receiving the services she needs. I hope that APD will take steps to address these issues and improve their services for families like mine who are relying on them for critical support.
