Disillusioned in the Texas Hills

I'll start by saying that Aerie Studio's website and Mark Addison's credentials had me sold. The promise of a 'holistic approach to production' and a 'haven for artists' sounded like the perfect environment to nurture my music. Unfortunately, my experience was more akin to being lost in the woods. The studio itself is cozy, nestled in a beautiful 4-acre plot, but the equipment, although vintage, felt outdated and lacking in certain areas. The 1979 Quad Eight Pacifica console, while impressive in its heyday, struggled to deliver the clarity and depth I was hoping for in my recordings. Mark's approach, while well-intentioned, often felt overly controlling, stifling my creative freedom. His feedback, though constructive at times, was inconsistent and sometimes felt like a reflection of his own vision rather than an enhancement of mine. I appreciate his dedication and the wealth of experience he brings to the table, having worked with notable artists like Bob Schneider and Sara Hickman. However, for an emerging artist like myself, the cost and the final product didn't align. Perhaps Aerie Studio is better suited for artists with a more defined sound or those looking for a very specific, vintage quality to their music. For me, it was a costly experiment that didn't yield the results I had hoped for. If you're considering Aerie Studio, ensure you have a clear understanding of what you're looking for and whether Mark's style and the studio's capabilities align with your vision.
