I was initially excited to work with Adaptive Tutors, given their promises of personalized coaching and collaborative learning. As a student struggling to find my footing in college math, I thought their approach would be just what I needed to get back on track. Unfortunately, my experience was a resounding disappointment. The Learning Coach assigned to me seemed more interested in espousing grand theories about 'finding my zone of genius' than actually helping me understand the material. Our one-on-one sessions felt rushed and disjointed, with little attention paid to my specific needs or questions. The virtual workspace, touted as a hub for team-based learning, was clunky and poorly organized, making it difficult for me to connect with my peers or find relevant resources. Perhaps most frustrating was the lack of tangible progress I made during my time with Adaptive Tutors. Despite their lofty claims about 'outperforming the competition' and 'exceeding expectations,' I saw little improvement in my test scores or overall academic performance.
